Overcoming Hardships with Fitness

Ways Fitness Can Help You Mentally and Physically

Having a healthier mindset, both mentally and physically, is important to reduce stress and overcome any hardships that present themselves. Whether it is going on a walk, doing an in-home workout, or going hiking in the mountains, regular exercise can have a very positive impact on your life.

Stress Reliever

No one likes a stress-filled life. Exercise and other physical activities produce endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that serve as natural painkillers. Endorphins also help you have the ability to sleep, which in turn would reduce stress. There are a variety of exercises that help reduce stress, including:

  • Meditation
  • Acupuncture
  • Massage Therapy
  • Deep Breathing

While you regularly shed your daily tensions through different movements and physical activities, you may find that this focus on a single task helps you remain in a calm state and have a clear mindset in everything you do.

Empower Yourself

Exercising not only makes you feel good, but it makes you look your best! Regular exercise can increase self-confidence, relax you, and help lower any symptoms associated with mild depression or anxiety. Exercise also kicks in to provide a more relaxing night’s sleep. Being able to get your body moving will ease your stress levels and provide a sense of command over your body and life, and give you the much-needed empowerment that you deserve.

Mental Focus

When life decides to throw you some curveballs, you have to smack them right back to where they came from. You know what you want to achieve, your goal, and your vision. Never let anything stand in the way of you reaching the finish line. To help you define your goals and long-term vision, try our Shift Your Mindset worksheet to set a positive mindset!

The greatest risks provide the greatest reward. If your goal is to finish a triathlon and cross over the finish line, then make sure to set your sights and put everything into motion. Of course, there will be distractions that show themselves and attempt to pull you away from your goal. Just remember to stay focused, and you will reach your destination.

Creates Routine and Consistency

Although your schedule may need a morning workout one day and an evening activity the next, making sure to carve out some time to move every day helps you make your exercise routine an ongoing priority. Consistency is key. This is valid for many pieces to the puzzle of life, especially for fitness. How do you stay consistent? Make SMART goals.

SMART stands for:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Relevant
  • Timely

Whatever you decide to do, it is preferred not to think of exercise as just another thing to add to the plate. Instead, think of it as something you enjoy and something that you want to do. You never want to exercise to feel like a chore, because then it will be more challenging to create a routine.

Become Stronger

Now becoming stronger doesn’t just mean having a more toned look. It’s also about having more internal strength than you had before. This new strength will give you a mental boost that provides a solid foundation to protect against any obstacle that will come in your path.

Changing your thoughts will allow your body to build stronger mental muscles that help manage your emotions and take positive action. The best way to become stronger is to pick one exercise and do it daily. As mentioned earlier, maintaining a consistent routine will begin to add new mental muscle-building strategies into your daily routine and help you become stronger.

You know your limits. Push them and see how far it will take you. You are capable of far more than what you think. Only you are in charge of what you want to accomplish.
